How to make your website look professional
We have done many posts how to optimize your website that it would have low time load and other bits which will help to have speedy website. This time I would like to give you some advices which will help you to sort your website that it would look more professionally.
The reason why I have decided to go with this post is that many web site owners don’t have much knowledge about what is important in order to have attractive website. Good looking website is where we can find information quickly, with the intention to come back again. In this way website is gaining more trusted visitors which leads to potential customers if you sell products online. Now as we see it’s a good decision to invest in making your website to look professional.
Lets go ahead and take a look at what is really important for making a good looking website. Probably the first and most important step is design. It’s important to have nice and clean website design as the first impression for the visitors is how it looks. By saying good looking, we don’t mean it should be designed by using all colors that you have found in the graphic design software. Too much of colors will not make a good impression for the visitors eyes and they will go away. If you will look at professional website designers works, you will notice that the best solution is to use few colors and they should reflect each other. Probably you don’t want to harm visitors eyes by placing white text on yellow background or vice versa. Colors should be selected in order to deliver the best view of website.
Speaking about all graphical details, they shouldn’t be overused too. All backgrounds, tables, images, etc. should be placed only where needed. Our website should introduce the information that we publish on it in order to make it more easier to locate and get familiar. Also, graphical details shouldn’t be used to make website load time extremely long. If we will add lots of images and other media which size is very large, visitor can find it difficult even to scroll through the website. How can we avoid it ? We should not use images that size is several MB’s. If it’s critical to show some heavy images, they should be re-sized to the thumbnail.
Before designing, we must think how everything will be looking and where all details will be placed. It’s a good idea to make a sketch at the begging in order to avoid big redesigning after website will be created. As every website, all parts should be in their places: header at the top, content in the middle, footer at the bottom. That’s a basic structure for all websites. For menu, it depends on how many buttons there will be. If there will be about five buttons, menu can be placed right after or over the header in a horizontal line. If we have more pages for our buttons, then we will better place them in the left or right side of the template. This type of menu should be formatted in vertical position. For all the parts, we should prepare graphical details, text, forms, and everything we want to show for our visitors in a right way and to the point.
The last thing to consider is advertising. If we are preparing to make a really professional website, then we should think what we want to show for the visitors. We should ask our selves what is the purpose of our website. To show ads and earn money from visitors clicks or our good looking website. Remember that ads is not very liked for most of the visitors. Especially, when they pop-up in the window or even they are placed in every free space. What we are calling professional is not with the intention to make a profit. In most cases if the visitor comes to website and founds ads, he’s just goes away, even website is well designed.
