How to configure my MediaWiki to be accessible via the server URL?

In order to access your MediaWiki via the server URL (http://servername/~user) instead your domain, you should edit your LocalSettings.php file. It is located in the root directory of your MediaWiki. You can edit the file from:

DirectAdmin -> File Manager

Replacethe following line:

$wgScriptPath= “/wiki”

with this one:

$wgScriptPath= “/~username/wiki”

Then you can use the following link to access your MediaWiki:

http://servername.com/~username/wiki/

How do I upload files to my website?

(A) You must either use FTP (file transfer protocol) client, we recommend FileZilla (open-source), (B) you can upload via “File Manager” located in your DirectAdmin control panel or (C) you can use Host1Plus’s webftp client. All files must be uploaded to public_html directory!

Remember you you are using DirectAdmin file manager for file edit it could damage your files while saving. The best way to edit files like .php, .html, etc. is to download Notepad++ which reads and writes your files with the right format and outputs.

How to modify my domain?

If you want to change your domain name, simply log in to direct admin control panel, choose “Domain Setup” -> “Change A Domain Name” and edit the form. Make sure the nameservers on the domain you are going to be using point to ours to properly work.
Remember if you will delete the existing domain from DirectAdmin all data which contains under this domain will be deleted!

How can I install/configure my WordPress to be able to access it via the server URL.

You can access your WordPress installation via the server IP with without making any changes. You just type the URL below and change it to suit for your account:

http://serveraddress/~username/path_to_WordPress_installation/

However, in order your links to access the content via the server’s URL you should make the following changes:

You should change the ‘siteurl’ option in your WordPress database. Here is the path to do this change:

Go to Direct Admin –> ‘phpMyAdmin’ in the Databases box. Then from the left bar select the database for your WordPress installation

Browse the table ‘wp_options’ –> Find the options ‘siteurl’ and ‘home’. Change their values to the desired URL.

How to configure Drupal to use the server URL instead of my domain name?

If you cannot log into your Drupal application using your server domain, you should change the following line in the sites/default/settings.php file:

$cookie_domain = ‘yourdomain.com’;

$cookie_domain = $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'];

This way Drupal will send the proper cookie information, matching the domain name you have used to access it.
