    Upgrade To Paid Hosting/Payment Methods

    Hi Guys,

I am new here, I just registered this week and am still uploading my website. To be clear from the start I have a TLD domain on a free account. My website is a desktop wallpaper website running on Coppermine Photo Gallery. I have been running this website on a previous free host with rather limited disk space for 2 years, however I feel it is time to upgrade with more professional paid web hosting and greater disk space.

I am interested in trying the "Mini" paid hosting for a six months trial, and my questions are as follows:

1 - Can I choose 6 months or must it be a full year?

2 - Can I pay with PayPal - I do have a PayPal account but not a credit card associated with my account (I am currently posted overseas and PayPal does not recognize my bank).
I have paid for services without the credit card on many occasions, however I am aware that some services require a credit card to be associated with a PayPal payment. Do you accept PayPal payment without a credit card?

3 - If I pay for web hosting does my website remain here at host1free or must I upload it again to a different server?

4 - If it transpires that I wish to revert back to my web site uploaded here at host1free would it still exist here if my paid option runs out?

5 - I have seen some suggestions about public downloads/uploads not being permitted - does that include downloads/uploads of images to/from my desktop wallpaper website? I have also seen that Coppermine Photo Gallery has been described as a file sharing script, however that is totally incorrect as any visit to the Coppermine web page will prove Coppermine Photo Gallery

6 - Can I ask that you check my website and advise me if you can or cannot accomodate such a website - it is under my user name deskto1

I do not wish to post the website url direct here in the forum because I am somewhat nervous about my bandwidth usage after having just uploaded around 5 gigs of images.... I can see that in my control panel it is not correctly reading currently used bandwidth or used disk space, so I am unsure if I am close to the limit.

Well, perhaps this is enough to be getting on with,

Ermm... by the way, I had never heard nor seen of host1free.com before, and I consider myself knowledgeable about web hosting! Perhaps a little more publicity might get you all even more popular.

    Thankyou for your attention.

You can choose whatever timeframe you want. Even 1 month.

    Yes we do

Yes, unfortunately you would need to reupload it to a server that you choose when registering at host1plus.

You can have an account here and at host1plus. Although changes made to one of them will not occur on the other. So you would need to update them both.

Well we frown upon letting anyone upload files to your account. Because it can get out of hand and wouldn't be good neither for you nor for us. But this is just on host1free. You have more freedom at host1plus

    Thank you Linas

For your prompt reply, and kind comments!

I will therefore proceed to upgrade my hosting at the end of this month (March).

The only answer I am not quite sure about is answer #3 - Can I ask, where would I choose a server?

    Best wishes

In the registration form on host1plus. You have a choice of 5 servers located in UK, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore and Lithuania.

    @Linas

Ok, thanks, I understand... is there any region that is recommended or preferred, or is it simply a matter of personal choice for the desired traffic that a website might attract?

    Thanks

It's your personal choice. Although i would recomend selecting the server closest to your users. That way you will have less latency

Re: Upgrade To Paid Hosting/Payment Methods

    Hi,

I think perhaps my website might have been suspended as I recieve a 404 Not Found error for my website, and I have recieved an email telling me my website was suspended, although I can login to my account.

I would be grateful if someone can advise me what the problem might be so that hopefully I can correct it.

Erm, I posted here because I could not find a "Suspended Accounts Section" - I hope this is ok.

    Thanks

    EDIT:

I have just noticed the reason I am getting a 404 Not Found error is because my entire website has been deleted although my account is still active.

Can someone please explain what is happening ?

Well some other moderators have noticed that your bandwidth use is very excesive and therefore tried to disable your account unsuccessfully. So they moved your files to an inaccessible location.
Unfortunately you will have to move to our paid hosting if you want to continue.

Re: Upgrade To Paid Hosting/Payment Methods

Actually yesterday all I was doing was relocating files from heavy folders up to second level folders, and at the same time removing duplicate and un-needed files in preparation to upgrade.

Since I would have to re-upload my entire website again to a new paid server I am aware that I have one folder that contains over 12,000 images (which are thumbnails mostly) and it is difficult to access that folder and upload without FTP dropping out...

The high bandwidth usage you mentioned is only me preparing my website.... it is not caused by strange processes nor caused by heavy traffic.

I would be grateful if I could be given the opportunity to backup those changes that I made.

Well we would gladly transfer your files directly from your host1free account to host1plus without you needing to download/reupload them. But if you still want to download them, i have put the folder named after your domain in your ftp root.
