What about joomla 1.6?

The sofaculous script installer does not feature joomla 1.6. I wanted to know if
it has been removed on purpose or has not yet been added

Hello! You can simply downlaod Joomla from official site, unpack and upload via FTP. Then go to http://your-site.com and it will redirect to Joomla's installer. It's very simple.

Just not yet added. Also, new Joomla versions proved to be insecure and easily hackable. Be sure to keep your version up to date.

1. Unzip the file contents and upload via FTP to your website.
2. Go to your website, run through the installer that automatically runs.
3. Joomla 1.7 is installed.
