If you have added the domain when registering or after registration through DirectAdmin, it already includes aliases for the www. part

Do you mean forcing visitors to access www.mydomain.com instead of mydomain.com ?
I'm not good at using .htaccess, but it can be done with php. You can check the domain your visitor accessing by using $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].

just auto forward mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com. My site cannot auto forward to www since Box5 Maintenance yesterday.
