HELP I don't know what I'm doing at all

I created a website on iWeb, bought a domain on godaddy, and signed up with this for free hosting. In iWeb, I selected Publish to FTP server. For server address, I put box9.host1free.com. For user name and password, I put the information that host1free emailed me. Then I didn't know what to do about directory/path. I put public_html with all variations of slashes and no slashes and it wouldn't work. Then I looked into the direct admin thing and it told me my directory was /home/rebecc/ so I tried that with and without all variations of slashes, but that didn't work either. Then I tried NO directory/path, just to see, and iWeb told me it worked, but the site did not exist. However, within the direct admin thing, it was clear that the site I designed had been uploaded in some capacity, and was drifting among the ether. What did I do wrong? Can anyone help?
