Describe your problem : I saw your template in the "sticky" in this forum but I'm not actually sure what values I'm supposed to be using in the fields so I just took my best guesses. I thought I'd written down my account name but I can't find it anywhere. Please remind me how to find it. May I suggest that you improve the "sticky" with the template to include information on exactly what you want for each of the prompts and where that information can be found.
Now, on to my REAL question. I would like to host a few Java Web Start applications on the domain that you are hosting but I need to set a particular MIME type definition in my domain first for that to be successful. The guide I'm using says: "Configure the Web server so that all files with the .jnlp file extension are set to the application/x-java-jnlp-file MIME type."
I don't know if my domain is already set up with that MIME type; perhaps it is. But the documentation seems to expect that most people will not already have that MIME type.
The technique for setting up the MIME type depends on which server software you are running, e.g. Apache or whatever. I'm not sure what software you are running so that's the first thing I need to know so that I can find the right technique for adding the MIME type. Then, I will need to know where to find the file that has to be updated. For example, in Apache I need the .mime.types configuration file. I'm not sure if that's something I can access in my own domain; I haven't been able to find it so I'm guessing that it's at a higher level that only Host1Free administrators can see. If it's not a file that I can access, I'd like to know if you're willing to add the MIME type on my behalf? It's apparently a simple one-line change, at least for Apache.
I don't know if you can set up the server so that only my domain gets this additional MIME type or if new MIME types are always global across all domains. I can imagine that you might not approve of this MIME type being added to all of the domains that you host.
That's what I'm trying to figure out with this post.
I hope you can help me with this.
